This project is currently under review. In the area of building products GGC has acquired the 'ICON' product and expertise in 'Cellular Concrete' making. 'ICON' comprises of three products:
ICON mortar mix: A water resistant cementious powder mix with compressive strength to 35 Mpa (without large aggregate) used primarily to manufacture colorful decorative long lasting patio stone elements. An interesting aspect of the mix is that waste product from cement manufacture (cement Kiln dust) can effectively be encapsulated and become a functioning ingredient thus reducing costs and improving the environment.
ICON base stabilizer: This product when mixed with indigenous earths forms a sufficiently hard well compacted sub-base for roads, thus eliminating the costs of excavation and haulage of aggregate that's typically used. Having made the sub base an 'wear' surface (asphalt) would be applied.
ICON bitumen enhancer: When added to the bitumen tank the enhancer improves flexibility and thus life of the asphalt.
'Cellular Concrete': This material, which is basically a cementious mixture containing a significant portion of entrained air that is finding greater use inroad building and general construction industry due to its:
At this time the ICON and cellular concrete products are targeted for sister company construction use in Mexico, leading to wider market use.
